Copper-Phosphorous brazing alloys are used primarily on copper and copper alloys. These alloys contain phosphorous, which deoxidizes copper and acts as a flux on clean base metals. In most cases, additional flux is still required, however, particularly when working with brass or bronze. Copper Phosphorous alloys are not suitable for use on iron or nickel base alloys as phosphorous can form brittle intermetallic phosphide compounds with iron and nickel. Copper phosphorous alloys have similar corrosion resistance as pure copper, except when exposed to sulfur compounds.

INFO |
This filler metal is a low-cost choice for joining copper and copper-based alloys where the brazed assemblies are not required to withstand vibration or impacts. This filler metal is free flowing and is best suited to joint clearances between 0.001"-0.003". This filler metal will liquate when heated slowly, so it is best used in torch or induction applications where the assembly can be brought to temperature rapidly. |

INFO |
This filler metal is a good general purpose brazing alloy for use on copper and copper alloys. It is particularly suited to tight fitting joints with clearances from 0.001"-0.003" as this filler metal is very fluid when molten. Despite a liquidus temperature of 1450oF, this filler metal is almost completely molten at 1350of, so brazing temperatures may need to be adjusted accordingly. |

This filler metal is a versatile choice when brazing copper and copper-based alloys. It is very sluggish when it begins to melt, making it suitable for filling large gaps, or uneven joints. When heated further towards the liquidus temperature, the filler metal becomes quite fluid, which enables it to penetrate deeply into tighter joints. |
